A collection of career related websites and services gathered by the Centre College Professional Development office that allows students to explore their career trajectories and network with alumni and black professionals.

CCPD Diversity Resources

A collection of resources for various identities including Black students/alumni, DACA/Undocumented students, Hispanic/Latinx students, LGBTQIA+ students, Differently-abled students, first generation students, and international students. This page is actively being updated by the college to include resources for more identities.

Minority Students in STEM

This site is designed to support and encourage Centre College students from underrepresented groups who are majoring in Division III or interested in STEM careers. This is a moodle site so you must be a Centre student, but you can self enroll once logged into moodle.


Internships

NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates

The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program.

ETAP REU and IRES

ETAP helps students apply for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Sites and the International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) Sites programs. However, not all Sites participate in this online system. To view a list of Sites using this system, please go to the Sites tab.

Vassar D&I Internships and Programs

The sampling of opportunities listed in this handout specifically focus on opportunities for students from underrepresented groups.

Generation Google Scholarships

A $10,000 scholarship for Computer Science majors with a December deadline.

Masergy Scholarship

STEM majors are eligible for one of two $5,000 awards. Submit 60-second video showcasing a STEM-related innovation they developed. Deadline mid December.

Women in Technology Scholarship

$7,000 for computer science, engineering, and technical studies. Deadline in December.

Palantir Future Scholarship

Created to celebrate and support students from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups in STEM. Deadline in December.

Global Impact Scholarship

Palantir has launched the Global Impact Scholarship to celebrate and support students from across the globe who are beginning careers in technology ($5,000). Deadline in December.

Minority Women in STEM Scholarship

A scholarship for minority women in STEM for $3,000.

BHW Group’s Women in STEM Academic Scholarship

A scholarship for women in STEM for $3,000.

Google’s Women Technmakers Scholarship Program

A $10,000 scholarship for undergraduates computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field. Additional information.

Toptal Scholarships for Future Female Leaders from Around the World

A $10,000 leadership scholarship for undergraduate women.

Great Minds in STEM Scholarship

A scholarship for undergraduates in varying amounts.

AFCEA Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Major Scholarships for Undergraduate Students

Several scholarships of varying amounts for undergraduate STEM students. Applications open in January 2021 and close May 31, 2021.

Dr. Arthur A. Kezain DDS Science Scholarship

A $1,200 scholarship for high school seniors up to graduate students majoring in a science. Scholarships open November 1, 2020 and close March 31, 2021.

Thurgood Marshall Scholarships

A $1,000 scholarship for undergraduate students with financial insecurities due to COVID-19. Application is on a rolling basis and funds are available until they are depleted or the summer of 2021, whichever comes first.

Agnes Jones Jackson Scholarship

A scholarship with a $2,000 maximum. An NAACP scholarship.

Hubertus W.V. Willems Scholarship for Male Students

A scholarship with a $3,000 maximum. An NAACP scholarship.

James Weldon Johnson Scholarship

A recurring scholarship with a $3,000 maximum. An NAACP scholarship.

UNCF (United Negro College Fund)

UNCF manages various scholarship programs and each program has its own eligibility criteria, open/close dates and required documentation. To apply for a UNCF scholarship, you must apply through the on-line application process.

NACME (National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering) Scholarships

Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000.

National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowships

The National Science Foundation also has graduate fellowships for students with strong undergraduate work, including research experience. If you are an author or coauthor on a research article as an undergrad, you will be more competitive for one of these awards.  $138,000 over five years.

Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students

(ABRCMS), recipient of the 2019 AIMBE Excellence in STEM Education Award, is one of the largest communities of underrepresented minorities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students attend this conference to present their research, enhance professional development skills, explore graduate schools, and network. Research faculty and program directors play an essential role in mentoring students and learning strategies for facilitating student success. Virtual conference this year.

Workplace Discrimination & Allyship

A recording of a training by Kendrick Robinson, an Engagement & Inclusion Leader at Bridgestone Americas, as he discusses workplace discrimination and how to be an ally. He will touch on what discrimination may look like before or after hiring, how to navigate that discrimination, and how to be an ally.
