About

We are the future. We are the Centre Black STEM Coalition.

We are an official student run organization of Centre College. Centre’s website can be found here.

We, as an organization, seek to empower and support Black students interested in pursuing STEM majors, minors, pre-professional and dual-degree programs. This will be done by:

  1. Cultivating a community of STEM-oriented Black students and supporting other Black students interested in STEM, with a focus on first years and rising sophomores.
  2. Providing a welcoming, safe, and supportive space for productive discourse on experiences faced by Black students in STEM.
  3. Developing a network where Black Centre students can interact with Black Centre alumni who are working in or have worked in STEM fields.
  4. Building relationships with faculty and having interactions on issues faced by Black students in STEM.
  5. Advocating for the employment of Black faculty in STEM fields.
  6. Partnering with schools in the Danville community to develop programs focused on encouraging more Black students to pursue STEM fields.
